To Tell The Truth

October 5, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$11 – $15
To Tell The Truth on Oct 5 2019

“To Tell the Truth,” a lively gathering of storytellers, will return with a brand new program of true-life tales on Saturday, October 5. This latest installment of the show, which features both known and unknown local talent, will be held at the opulent Eagle Mountain Event Center, located on 3rd Street, just outside of downtown Bend.

As in past shows, “To Tell the Truth” will star a group of diverse personalities who’ll tell true stories on a bare stage without the benefit of notes. Stories will range from the hilarious to the heartfelt. And to keep things lively there’ll also be music, a song or two, and the premiere of a comic video created especially for the evening’s event.

After successful shows at The Old Stone and 2nd Street Theater—both venues that have since closed– “To Tell The Truth” moves to the very modern Eagle Mountain Event Center, which is across from Robberson Ford, just below Boot Barn. Parking is ample in an open lot right next to the center.

The Eagle Mountain Event Center will open at 6:30. The show will start promptly at 7:00.

Wine and beer along with light snacks will be available.

Ticket: $11 at Bendticket.com or $15 at the door.

Inspired by National Public Radio’s long running series, ”The Moth,” “To Tell the Truth” follows a similar format but adds music and the occasional specialty act to give the show a distinct Central Oregon flavor. Each storyteller is given 10 minutes to recount a tale that’s’ true or true to the best of their recollection.

As they have in the past, the mysterious and reclusive “Two Twisted Sisters” will produce the October 5 program. While the two sisters, who reside in seclusion somewhere in Deschutes County, refused to appear for an interview, they agreed to speak through their appointed spokespersons, Howard Schor and Dan Cohen.

“We don’t know how it happened but people have lots of stories to tell in this far flung hamlet,” the older sister remarked. “And so far, there’s no stopping them.”

“The idea of people getting together to tell tales is as old as we are,” her younger sibling stated, “and we’re as old as the hills.”

In regards to their relationship with producers Schor and Cohen, the older sister remarked, “We’ve trusted those two aging boneheads to organize the thing. So far so good. We’ll see how they handle this new show.”

Tickets are $11.00 online, available through bendticket.com, and $15.00, at the door. “Crazy cheap,“ the sisters proclaimed, “especially since a portion of each ticket sold goes to charity.”

The Eagle Mountain Event Center will open at 6:30. Wine and beer along with light snacks will be available. The show will start promptly at 7:00.

While all ages will be admitted to the show, parents are cautioned that some material may be adult in nature. “We hate it when kids have to explain stuff to aged parents,” the older sister noted.
